Deerwood Technologies presents scholarships

DEERWOOD — Deerwood Technologies presented $500 scholarships to two area graduating seniors, Eleanor Lewandowski of Crosby-Ironton High School and Karena Burgstaler of Aitkin High School.
To qualify for the scholarship, a student must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or better. Applicants are asked to submit an essay of 100 words or less and answer this question: How can technology benefit disadvantaged individuals, societies and countries? Applicants also provided a list of their community involvement and volunteer activities. An employee committee “blind referees” student scholarship applications to select annual recipients.
Deerwood Technologies’ scholarships are 100% funded through events (recycling drives and other fundraisers) promoted, coordinated, and staffed by employees and their families.
Scholarships were presented at each school’s annual senior awards event in May. Scholarship payments will be issued to the institution of choice after the student successfully completes his or her first academic term.
